Get 'Red Carpet Ready' for the Inaugural Hands for Hope Charity Gala, October 21

Proceeds Benefit Childhood Cancer Research at the University of Chicago and Children's Neuroblastoma Cancer Foundation

Everyone, especially families impacted by any form of cancer, is invited to join the Children's Neuroblastoma Cancer Foundation (CNCF) for its first Hands for Hope charity gala and dinner/dance. The premiere event kicks off with a cocktail reception at 6 p.m. and dinner at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, October 21, 2017, at the Hyatt Regency in Schaumburg, at 1800 E. Golf Rd. Tickets are $85 and can be purchased at CNCF . Guests, who must be 21 years old to attend, will be treated to music provided by DJ Sye Young from The DJ Firm. The gala will feature auction items including Chicago Blackhawks jerseys signed by Marián Hossa and Brent Seabrook.

Proceeds will benefit CNCF's Parent Education conference, other educational initiatives, as well as childhood cancer research at the University of Chicago Comer Children's Hospital. Comer is acclaimed for its groundbreaking neuroblastoma research and advanced treatment.

A majority of government and private donations go toward fighting adult cancers, while research for children's cancer has been historically underfunded. According to the Coalition Against Childhood Cancer, just 4 percent of federal cancer research funding goes to children.

"There currently isn't a single major funder of childhood cancer research and education that comes even close to the scale of funding received by oncologists investigating cures and advanced therapies to treat adult diseases," said Pat Tallungan, who co-founded CNCF following the death of her son, Nicholas, at age 10 from advanced-stage neuroblastoma in 1999.

Tallungan stressed the need for additional sponsors to help us reach our goal of funding research efforts at Comer Children's Hospital and fulfilling the mission of CNCF. Also, take advantage of the Hyatt Regency special room rate at $89 per night on Friday and Saturday, October 20 and 21.
