I have not been on for a while, but know that I can find my answer here.

I know I have seen the info on this list before, but cannot remember...  My son has Stage 4 NB NMYC amp, was diagnosed at 4months, is now 20 months and done with Frontline treatment.  Anyhow, we are pregnant again and I remember reading about a company that does cord blood banking for families with NB.

Can someone tell me the name of the company that does it for free?

Thanks,

Eileen Kamp

When I was pregnant, I planned to donate our baby's cord blood. But, the blood bank here that process that recognized my name and contacted our BMT office asking if BMT wanted the cord blood banked in case Braeden needed it. They said yes, and so our local blood center processed it and stored it as a "medical need" storage. It was covered by our insurance for the most part, and our social worker helped us find a program to pay for the remainder. You may want to call the office that did your son's transplant (if he had one) and they may be able to handle it for you. In my experience, usually the doctors can get things done faster and easier than I could on my own. :-)

It's good to see you again, I pray Wyatt is doing well and you are getting back to a new normal.....and congratulations on your pregnancy!

Hi Eileen,

I believe Viacord will store cord blood for free if you have a child with a cancer dx. You may need to call them to find out about the program: http://www.viacord.com

Congratulations on your new little one.
