Belly pain during Ch.14.18
Reply

My 4 year old daughter has NB stage 4.  We are presently in Immunotherapie stage and she just got her first cycle of Ch.14.18.  She has fevers and hives.  She is on Morphine and is complaining of belly pain.  Just wondering if anyone heard of having belly pain with this medication.

Hi

My name is Nancy, and Brooke, my grandaughter, is finished w/3 rounds of ch14.18 and often has belly pain after a round. We have found that it is probably caused from the morphine as it is constipating. We have to give her mineral oil and Miralax until she has a bowel movement. It takes almost a week for her to become regular. You might want to consider this and talk to your doctors about it. Good luck.

Nancy

Hi Nancy.  Thanks for you reply.  Abby started to have belly pain 3 hours after receiving her first dose of Ch14.18.  She had several BM and is still complaining of belly pain.  Just wondering how long your grandaughter had pain after her treatment.  Doctors are not sure what it could be.  Thank's

the usual routine for Brooke is constipation, belly pain, and not much of an appetite. After about a week, she starts to eat better but then claims her stomach hurts and doesn't want to eat because the food makes it hurt worse. It isn't until she is almost ready to go back for next round that all the stomaches are gone. So I would say that she has these pains for about 2-2 1/2 weeks. this has been pattern for all 3 rounds. We are at CHOP (Philadelphia) and doctors aren't too worried about it.

Hi,

My son Daniel (17 month) is starting ch 14.18 next week so I need some info on what to expect during hospital stay and  at home. He has been on TPN since his 6th chemo so his belly is not great to start with. Needless to say that he doesn't eat foods and we use his ng tube for meds. Can accutane be given this way as well. What about IL-2 and side effects.. Thanks for your help.
