CNCF swing fling
Calling all golfers for the Masters of CNCF fundraisers! Over the next few weeks, two of the Children’s Neuroblastoma Cancer Foundation’s most important outings of the year offer you a chance to play on a lifesaving team – on the fairways, in the clubhouse or from afar.

Diem returns for the 10th anniversary of a tournament that has raised more than $1 million for neuroblastoma research and education

The night before, supporters will gather for laughs at the Improv Comedy Club, 5 Woodfield Rd., in Schaumburg. Featured comedian is Ralph Harris, who appeared in the film “Dreamgirls” and is host of the culinary competition “My Momma Throws Down” on the TVOne network.
Tournament raffle prizes include four tickets and backstage passes for the Darius Rucker concert this summer at Ravinia Festival.

Diem, who played on the 2007 Indianapolis Colts team, has been a passionate supporter of Allie & Friends, named for a little girl who died of neuroblastoma just shy of her fourth birthday. More than 1,700 golfers have participated in the event; among them celebrity athletes such as Peyton Manning and Super Bowl-winning coach and NBC analyst Tony Dungy.

“This year is special, because it is our tenth, an achievement that symbolizes the commitment and excellence of the people who work hard to make Allie a success every year,” Diem said.

Tickets for “The Night Before the Allie” are $60 and should be purchased at http://tinyurl.com/kcrdv9z to benefit CNCF. Golf packages are $300 per golfer, $1,200 per foursome. Golfers can register at http://www.allieandfriends.org/tournament-register.asp.

**Next up: The 8th annual Amazing Grace Golf Classic May 19 at Houston Oaks Country Club and Family Sports Retreat in Hockley, Texas. Green Bay
Packer Ryan Pickett will tee off along with Cy Young award-winning pitcher Bret Saberhagen, former Dallas Cowboy Ed “Too Tall” Jones, former Miami Dolphin Mark Clayton, Golden Boy ring announcer Joe Martinez and other sports celebrities.

“It’s gone to a whole new level this year,” said event founder and coordinator Scott Scasny, crediting the board members for their dedicated efforts. “Already, $64,000 has come in, just in sponsorships. We’re hoping to raise $100,000 after expenses.”

All of the golfer entries are sold out, but the club offers lots of family-friendly fun that includes a swimming pool, paddleboats, kayaks and canoes, fishing, horseshoes, bocce ball and volleyball courts.

A party at the club the night before the tournament is open to all, $50 at the door, with a live band, a three-drink coupon, appetizers and a silent auction.
The tournament honors the daughter of Scott and Rebecca Scasny, who was diagnosed with neuroblastoma on her father’s birthday in January 2006. Grace passed away in October of that year at age 2.
