Golden Glove Boxing, MMA and UFC announcer Joe Martinez to join former pro NFL, MLB athletes for Amazing Grace Golf Classic on June 24
Local dad continues his fight against the childhood cancer that took his daughter’s life

Joe Martinez, the popular announcer for Golden Glove Boxing, MMA and UFC will join former pro athletes from the NFL and MLB on June 24 for the Amazing Grace Golf Classic to help further a local dad’s crusade against the childhood cancer that took his daughter’s life.

Joining Martinez on the greens that day will be former NFL players Ryan Pickett (Green Bay Packers, Houston Texans); Mark Clayton (Miami Dolphins); Lemuel Stinson (Chicago Bears, Atlanta Falcons); Matt Turk (Green Bay Packers, Houston Texans); and Adam Dunn, a.k.a. “Big Donkey,” an MLB all-star who played for several major league baseball teams during his career.

The golf classic will be held at the Sterling Country Club, 16500 Houston National Blvd. Registration opens at 11 a.m. with a 1 p.m. tee time.

The fundraiser was created in 2006 by Scott Scasny and Becky Scasny-Stewart to support the Children’s Neuroblastoma Cancer Foundation (CNCF). Their daughter, Grace, died of neuroblastoma, a solid tumor cancer and the most common cancer in infants, at age 2.
“We’re grateful for the consistent and active participation by pro athletes and enthusiastic golfers who come together each year to fight an aggressive but underfunded form of pediatric cancer,” said Pat Tallungan, co-founder of CNCF. “Today, there are more treatment options available to children fighting neuroblastoma because of events like Amazing Grace that raise money and awareness.”

Participating athletes and the event’s organizers Scott Scasny and Serena Hayden are available for interviews. Direct media inquiries to Shawn Taylor | tshawntaylor@yahoo.com | 312-371-6260.
